Adventure on Four Wheels: Road to Turkey

Our ambassador went on a trip to Turkey and told us about his adventures in this article:

Our journey to Turkey began on August 3, when three friends set off on an unforgettable expedition. Although initially there were supposed to be four of us, just before departure one person withdrew, which heralded the beginning of adventures. However, we decided to hit the road, unaware of how many challenges awaited us along the way.

At the very beginning of our adventure, before we even left Poland, we used a winch to help pull out a small Peugeot that had skidded into a cornfield. This unexpected incident only fueled our curiosity about what else awaited us on our journey..

We planned our first night near the Hungarian-Serbian border, where we managed to rest after an exciting day. We spent the next day driving through Serbia. Unfortunately, our car lost power twice on the motorway, which made us worried. Fortunately, the next day in Sofia we visited a service center, where they checked the errors on the computer and cleaned several important sensors, and then we continued towards Turkey.

The drive through Bulgaria went without any major problems until we reached the Turkish border. From there, we headed towards the Anti-Taurus Mountains on a beautiful four-lane highway, where we were to meet up with the rest of our team. Once in the mountains, the road began to get complicated – by mistake, we turned off at a viewpoint, which forced us to cover an additional 30 km at night, in difficult mountain conditions.

Unfortunately, our car failed again on the asphalt driveway. We stopped in a place with no radio signal or contact, which was particularly stressful in the middle of the night in the mountains. After about two hours, however, the rest of the team came to our aid and helped us reach the campsite.

The next day, after a night at an altitude of over 2000 m above sea level, we set off higher, reaching 3300 m above sea level. The views were breathtaking – the Anti-Taurus Mountains showed us their majestic beauty. The adventure was becoming more and more epic, despite problems with the car, which regularly overheated.

Despite further attempts to repair it in the wild, the car’s problems persisted. Finally, we decided to go to the nearest Hyundai service center. However, there was a mountain range ahead of us and a 30 km asphalt driveway, which we covered in three hours. Unfortunately, the car arrived at the service center on a tow.

The service center revealed that the water pump had failed and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, the part was only available 1,000 km away, which meant a few days of waiting. The car was repaired on Monday evening, but after 80 km it lost power on the driveway again, forcing us to return to the service center. The next diagnosis was more serious – a damaged head gasket, and the repair was supposed to take a week.

Time was pressing, so after much consideration we bought return tickets to Poland. We left the car in the service and took a plane to Ankara, where we spent two days, and then returned to Krakow.

Now the team in Poland is gathering to return for the car a month later. Will they manage to get to the country without any problems? Keep your fingers crossed! Our Turkish adventure is not over yet, and its ending is still unknown.
