The Karakum is our second rooftop tent. We bought our first less than a year ago – a FOLD2 model – which worked great and we still use it. However, living on the picturesque island of Senja in northern Norway, we wanted a tent with windows on all sides so we could admire the incredible views we have at our fingertips.
The aluminum roof was another reason we chose this model. We often hike off the beaten track, climbing through tree branches. The aluminum roof is resistant to branch impacts, and you can even stand on it to admire your destination.
The tent also features built-in power outlets that can be connected to a car's cigarette lighter or a portable charging station. This eliminates the need to carry power banks to charge phones or camera equipment, which are always readily available.
Sleep comfort is also commendable. The 5 cm memory foam mattress provides such a comfortable sleep that you'll forget you're on the roof of a car.
We also added a BATWING , a self-supporting awning, to our expedition vehicle, which we use most often. It was a perfect choice! The awning's ease and speed of setup are fantastic, and it has taken our outdoor camping to a whole new level. Even in the rain, we can sit under the awning and enjoy a coffee or prepare dinner in the outdoor kitchen. The LED lights in the awning add a unique atmosphere to evening camping trips, which we won't experience until September, as we experience polar day in summer, during which the sun never sets below the horizon.
Thanks to the additional poles that stabilize it in windy conditions, the awning works perfectly in all weather conditions. And northern Norway can be windy and rainy, so that's a huge advantage for us.
Overall, we're incredibly happy with our choice. The KARAKUM is a tent that meets all our expectations and allows us to enjoy the beauty of nature in all conditions. The aluminum roof and Batwing are additions that have taken our camping experience to a whole new level. We highly recommend it to anyone who values comfort, functionality, and unforgettable views.
