Overlanding Senja with Karakum and BATWING

Karakum is our second rooftop tent. We bought our first one less than a year ago – the  FOLD2 model , which worked great and we still use it. However, living on the picturesque island of Senja in northern Norway, we wanted a tent with windows on all sides, so we could admire the amazing views that we have at our fingertips here.

The aluminum roof is another argument that convinced us to choose this model. We often wander off the beaten track, breaking through tree branches. The aluminum roof is resistant to branch impacts, and you can also stand on it to admire the place you have reached.

The tent is also equipped with built-in sockets that can be connected to a car’s cigarette lighter or a portable charging station. This means that we don’t have to carry power banks to charge phones or camera equipment that we always have on hand.

Sleeping comfort is also praiseworthy. The 5 cm memory foam mattress provides such comfortable sleep that we completely forget that we are on the roof of a car.

We also added BATWING , a self-supporting awning , to our expedition vehicle, which we use most often.  It was a bull’s eye! The ease and speed of unfolding the awning are amazing, and our camping in nature has reached a completely new level. Even in the rain, we can sit under the awning and enjoy a coffee or prepare dinner in the outdoor kitchen. The LED lights in the awning add an amazing atmosphere to evening camping, which we will only experience from September, because in the summer we have a polar day, during which the sun does not set below the horizon.

The awning works great in all weathers thanks to the extra poles that stabilise it in windy conditions. And northern Norway can be windy and rainy, so that’s a huge advantage for us.

In summary, we are extremely pleased with our choice.  KARAKUM  is a tent that meets all our expectations and allows us to enjoy the beauty of nature in all conditions. The aluminum roof and BATWING are additions that have taken our camping to a whole new level. We highly recommend it to anyone who values ​​comfort, functionality and unforgettable views.
